Would it be ok to put 2 stroke petrol in a 4 stroke engine?

Question by Conor C.: Would it be ok to put 2 stroke petrol in a 4 stroke engine?
I got a ride on lawn more with a 4 stroke engine. We have a can of petrol with 2 stroke in it, and we don’t have any 2 stroke engines anymore. Would it do any damage to the 4 stroke if I ran it on 2 stoke for a while?

i wouldnt do it is it 2 stroke gas or pouring 2 stroke oil in a 4strokes oil fill 2 stroke gas one time wont hurt as long as its unleaded with 2 stroke oil added it isnt good for it but wont kill it but never put 2 stroke oil into a 4 strokes oil fill

The engine should be okay, but the catalytic converter could suffer. The 2-stroke oil probably contains ZDDP, a zinc phosphate that does a great job of lubricating and a very good job of poisoning catalytic converters.

40-1 ratio won’t hurt anything. I’d be more concerned about the “age” of the gas though.

If it’s kind of old….don’t use it.

2 stroke gas has oil mixed in with the gas you can run like this but you will foul the spark plug out faster and your neighbors will complain about all the smoke you are putting out into the air.so not as really good idea to do to your mower.
