What is a harder swimming stroke, Breaststroke or butterfly?

Question by : What is a harder swimming stroke, Breaststroke or butterfly?
Ok so ive been having an argument with this other kid about which one is a harder stroke to do. He says butterfly cause it requires lots of upper body and uses the most energy. But i said breaststroe is hardest because u actually use more energy cause u mainly swim underwater with lots of technique to do and to control your body. Plz tell me wt stroke u think and y!

Probably butterfly. The breaststroke leg movement is hard to master, but once you do, the whole stroke is not very tiring. In butterfly, the leg movement and ability to “dolphin kick” with both legs is hard to master, and the stroke is extremely tiring. You can do many laps of breaststroke and not become tired, but one lap and that’s it of butterfly.

Omg, hands down it’s butterfly. Breaststroke just requires some coordination but butterfly is a killer. It requires a lot more work to pull yourself up and move your body in that wave sort of motion. Also a lot harder when it comes to taking breaths.

Butterfly, without a doubt. Breaststroke is a much more natural movement, you have to force your body to do butterfly through practice. There’s lads on my team swimming at national+ level but ask them to do more than 200m butterfly in once and they will be tired after, they could swim breaststroke all day long.

Butterfly is quite easily the hardest stroke out of any.
