What happens when you stroke a cat the wrong way?

Question by bonnie: What happens when you stroke a cat the wrong way?
How does the cat react? The fur sticks up, but what is the cat’s behavioral response?

I honestly don’t know! I’ve never stroked or touched a cat before. Hehe.
I live in Singapore. Most housing estates here have “no pets” policies!

They would rather you didn’t, and usually will just move or walk away.

Wow you have never touched a cat before? That seems strange to me. If you pet a cat backwards it will usually run or bite. But sometimes it will flop over and let you pet it the right way. Depends on the cat and its personality. He he on the petting, you already know what happens.

It causes static electricity. The cat usually gets irritated enough to bite.

My cat is so fat she starts to play and flips over and starts to roll around. Most cats don’t like it, just like most don’t like their tummies to be touched, it makes them feel vulnerable and is also a fairly sensitive area.

My other cat would claw me if I even attempted to pet him roughly, it becomes a quarrel, but that’s his personality.

Where do you live that you have never petted a cat, that’s just so odd for me to fathom. If you pet one someday just don’t pet their fur in a weird way. Just like people don’t like their hair messed with, its the same with cats.

one of my cat’s thinks he’s a dog, so he would just roll over and play. he sleeps with my golden and gives him massages on his chest. my other cat, it just depends whos petting her i think. if its me shell love it, if it’s my younger daughter, she’ll run away.

It depends on the cat. The first cat I had, you did that sort of thing, and she would turn around and bite you. With our current cat, he likes it, and will actually start purring.
