I think that most people stick their heads in the sand with regard to all cancers. We all hope it will happen to someone else, not us. I think this may be even more true of pancreatic cancer because the prognosis is so poor that it is terrifying to think of being given that as a diagnosis of our illness.

It took my friends life, after six months of diagnosis. All cancer is terrible but this one is the worst as far as surviving it.

It’s horrible. It took my mom’s life when I was only 17, and I had no knowledge of Pancreatic Cancer before she got sick. All the Cancer awareness I’ve seen around me was for Breast Cancer mainly. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. I’m glad they have their awareness, but I think Pancreatic Cancer needs a lot more. The prognosis is so poor, and early detection is pretty much the only chance of survival. There cannot be early detection without more research. So no, I don’t think there’s enough awareness.
