My dad is in the hospital after having a stroke?

Question by Ducky: My dad is in the hospital after having a stroke?
He has a blood clot in his brain. Now I’m a little confused. Are a T.I.A and a Stroke the same? And is the first day the worst? I am finally going to get some sleep, then up at 7 am tomorrow to get to the hospital. Should I expect any difference? Or not get my hopes up?

A T.I.A is also known as a mini-stroke. This is a warning sign that a stroke may be coming at any time. The symptoms are the same as a stroke but the biggest difference is that usually a T.I.A will last for less than 24hrs and there is no permanent brain damage.

As for expecting a difference in your dad tomorrow I can’t tell you. Everyone recovers differently so there is no real answer except to take it day by day and hope for the best. Also i would recommend that you talk to his doctor in the morning to get a better understand what is going on with your dad.

Good luck and I hope your dad gets better soon.

TIA or stroke, he might have some memory loss, he might have some loss of physical ability, like his sense of balance, or when reaching for something, or when walking.

You will have to watch out for him from now on.
